Unlike some of my other characters’ past family lives, Vee’s was loving and functional. Vee is French-Canadian and she has a non-mutant older brother (the boy dressed as Edward Scissorhands). Her real name is Yvette Dubois.
The last few panels were pretty tough for me to draw, as they dealt with matters that are quite sensitive. One does NOT have the right to feel entitled to romance or sexual contact just because somebody else is being polite and friendly.
