I’ve waited 2 years (if not more) to reveal Gretel’s backstory! This is pretty exciting, as she is one of my favourite characters to write/draw.
Unlike most of the Ball and Chain cast, Gretel has a healthy relationship with her (adoptive) parents. Now that she lives at the Agency, she calls home every weekend (and gossips lengthily with Mom). Gretel’s parents are of German origin, and taught her the language when she was young.
